For most Americans, cars, trucks and motorcycles get us where we need to go on a daily basis. While some people see them just as a means for getting from one place to another in the quickest amount of time, others view them as interests, hobbies or even as part of their livelihood. If you fall in the later category, you will be happy to know that the Internet is full of people that share your enthusiasm. Beginning with the traditional, if you are interested in buying a new or used car, truck or van , the best place to start is Edmund's Automobile Buyer's Guide. For the new vehicles, you will find detailed car reviews, performance data, safety features, dimensions, standard and optional equipment with both actual dealer invoice costs and the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) and much more. For used vehicles, you get most of the same great information listed above on almost every make and model produced in the last 10 years. You also get Edmund's ratings for safety, reliability, performance, comfort and value. My family has used this Edmund's online guide for our last two car purchases and to prove the value of one of our cars that was "totaled" in an accident. Another great resource for overall information is Microsoft CarPoint. Microsoft CarPoint has much of the same information as Edmund's, plus a few new categories, though I still like the Edmund's information better. While Edmund's and CarPoint do a great job covering traditional cars, vans and trucks, they don't cover motorcycles. Motorcycles Online is your source for the best in product reviews for this genre. To find the motorcycle reviews you need to select Manufacturer's Row from the home page. Product Reviews goes to motorcycle gear and accessories, not the bikes themselves. For a very complete set of overall motorcycle information, try Motorcycle Web Directory. Motorcycle Web Directory has the largest collection of links to motorcycle magazines (or e-zines) on the Web, as well as, a nice listing of clubs, shops, dealers, parts, events, safety information and brand-specific information that should not be missed. From links off this site, you can learn a great deal including repair and maintenance of your bike. If you are interested in "classic" cars, there is only one major source for all your information, Classic Car Source. At Classic Car Source you can chat, leave messages on the message board, search or place classified ads, and find cars, parts, books and museums related to the classics. Additionally, there are some nice articles and plenty of links to other related sites. Start here first if classic cars interest you. Finally, there is Roadsters. Roadsters "specializes" in almost everything non-traditional with cars. Specialties include: Land speed record, drag, Indy, sprint car, stock car and vintage racing (and anything to do with racing), as well as, hot rods, classic, custom, muscle and sports cars plus motorcycles. Well laid-out Web pages, online articles and thousands upon thousands of links make this specialty resource one you will want to bookmark for later. Whether you are new to the automotive world or an old grease monkey, there is something for every stage of knowledge and experience. |
