Promo: Looking for a safe place for your kids to learn and play on the Internet? Grab a pen and paper and get ready to write down a few addresses for child-protected entertainment and education.

With lots of attention given to the negative images of the World Wide Web, many parents are afraid to let their children get online. This week, we'll explore the safe side of the Internet.

If you think all that is on the Internet is adult-oriented material, think again. Time for some wholesome, kid-friendly Web sites.

Route 6-16 is created by the makers of Cyber Patrol, the best-selling Internet filtering software. Cyber Patrol prevents access to parts of the Internet you determine are inappropriate. If you don't already have Internet filtering software, this is a good $30.00 to invest for your child's online protection.

If your kids like to read or write, KidPub has more than 16,000 stories written by kids, for kids. You can look through new stories, the oldies but goodies and the publisher picks. Once you find one that sounds interesting, just click on it and start reading.

Want to publish your own story online? Try the easy-to-use Story Form. Start by entering in your information. Then write your story and in just a few days it will be published on KidPub. Be the first in your family to be an published author.

Also on KidPub, find an e-mail penpal, or KeyPal, as it is called here. Search for kids all over the world that are the same age or have the same interests as you.

Time for Yahooligans! From the makers of the famous Yahoo!, this site is very well organized and grows in topics daily. Either browse by category or search for what you want. Don't worry, parents, this site keeps it clean.

So the next time you think Internet, remember that it can be a fun and educational place for everyone, no matter what their age.

From age 6 to 96 and beyond, there is something on the Internet for everyone. I'm Jack Nelson, The Internet Tutor.
