Promo: Need a job? Your next employment opportunity may be listed on the Internet right now. Using the Internet, finding the right job has never been easier-especially if you are considering one out of town. Before searching the help wanted ads for the whole state or even country, you need to first consider relocation costs. To do that, jump over to The Homebuyer's Fair at www.homefair.com and try out their salary and relocation calculator. After selecting the state you are moving from and to and even the city, enter in your current salary. For fun, lets say you are currently making $100,000 in your current job and you want to see what it will cost to relocate. With a single click, we see it will cost quite a bit more to move. This would be important to know if you think you are getting a $10,000 increase, but are actually seeing a decrease. Check back here after you got the job to find more information about where to live and to compare the schools in the area. If you are ready to start searching the major newspapers for your next career, consider checking CareerPath.com first. Search through hundreds of thousands of new jobs each month. This site is updated daily by newspapers across the U.S. and has the distinction of being able to see the actual advertisement, with formatting, graphics and all. While CareerPath will get you the newspaper listings, it won't come close to providing you with all your employment choices. For the biggest listing, check The Monster Board. Search by keywords and areas to drill down to the jobs you want. You can click on a particular listing and see the complete details. Finally, leave an electronic resume for a prospective employer. Don't know what an electronic resume is? That's "O.K.,",just check eResumes at www.eResumes.com to find out about the important differences between printed and electronic resumes. Understanding your options can make the difference between getting called for an interview and not being considered at all. eResumes also has a complete list of the major online job banks with reviews, advantages and disadvantages of each. So, the next time you are considering a career change, remember the 'Net has the information on relocations, job listings and can even help you update your resume. From age 6 to 96 and beyond, there is something on the Internet for everyone. I'm Jack Nelson, The Internet Tutor. |
