Promo: Thinking of buying a new or used car? Look to the Internet to find car specifications, prices and more. Buying a car or truck can be a hassle, but if you know what you want and how much to pay, it can be easy on your nerves and your wallet. Look to the Internet for help. The place to start your car hunt is at Edmunds.com, editors of the Edmund's Automobile buyer's guides. Let's say you want a new car. First choose the make, in this case, Toyota. Next, select the specific model-the Camry CE with automatic transmission. Edmunds presents you with all the information about your selected car. See "what's new for 1998," read the Edmunds Car review, or check the features including warranty, performance data, safety data and dimensions. One of the best features is the seeing the actual dealer invoice and versus the car's suggested retail price or MSRP. You can even look at invoice and MSRP for all the available options. If you decide that you need a used car instead, select the make, year and model you want. Check the ratings for safety, reliability, performance, comfort and value. Look at trade-in prices, as well as, the reasonable market value price for the base models and then adjust the price with additional equipment. You can usually even check past reviews about the cars online. Finally, before buying or selling your car, check the Consumer Advice section for topics like "How to get your way at an auto dealer." You can learn how to prepare for your buy or trade-in and how to control the negotiation process. Armed with all this completely free information you will be in a much better position to know what vehicle you really want and how much you can expect to pay. From age 6 to 96 and beyond, there is something on the Internet for everyone. I'm Jack Nelson, The Internet Tutor. |
